Thandiwe Lodge is a brainchild of Malawian entrepreneur Edward Kaluwa, the founder and director of Combine Cargo Malawi Limited. The Lodge was first developed in 2010 as a cottage over a 0.312 Hectare of land along the Nankumba peninsular in Monkey Bay, Mangochi. Its original structures included two Chalets for use by family and friends.
In 2019, two additional Chalets and an office block (with provision for Laundry Unit) were constructed, with an intention to commercialise the Cottage by developing it into a Lodge. Further developments ensued, which included construction of a Conference Hall and
Kitchen. Currenty, Thandiwe Lodge has 4 Chalets capable of accommodating 16 guests. Thandiwe Lodge Limited is a registered institution as of 2017, and opened to the public for business on 1st November 2021
